TITLE: APPAREL DESIGNER
DEPARTMENT: DESIGN
REPORTS TO: DESIGN DIRECTOR

Overview:

This is a full-time on-site role as an Apparel Designer for Clare V. in Los Angeles. The Apparel Designer will be responsible for daily tasks associated with designing and developing ready-to-wear, fleece & tees, sweater knits, cut-and-sew knits, and hats. The Designer will collaborate with the founder and the design team on all aspects of the creation process, including conceptualizing the idea, developing design boards, sourcing fabrics, and reviewing samples.

Responsibilities:

  • Follows through on designs from initial direction/inspiration to final sample.
  • Works closely with the Design Director and Apparel Product Developer to source materials, and ensure all development deadlines are met.
  • Responsible for communication of any new apparel raw materials development needs in accordance with the development calendar.
  • Responsible for identifying materials to be sourced and developed, passing lab dips and print artwork in accordance with calendar.
  • Responsible for apparel sketches and CADs for Ready to Wear, Fleece and Tees, Sweater Knits, Cut and Sew Knits, and Hats.
  • Works closely with Apparel Technical Designer and Apparel Product Developer on generating and updating tech packs/specs, and ensuring product is designed to meet customer needs while adhering to development timelines and target margins.
  • Responsible for building all apparel SKUS, inputting BOM information into PLM system, and helping Technical Designer to create technical sketches, and ensure all tech pack deadlines are met.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the apparel line sheets are up to date, including design details (sketches, names, and materials).
  • Participate in weekly design and product development meetings, and apparel team meetings to ensure strong communication and alignment on all ongoing development.
  • Attend all fittings, collaborate with Technical Designer to advise adjustment of garments to achieve desired fit, and ensure fit and aesthetic is on brand.
  • Supports team in preparation for major milestone meetings including Sketch Review, First Design Review (FDR) and Market Presentations.
  • Communicates sample arrival timelines and alerts the team of any late or pending 9/11/24 posted items. Manage apparel sample coordination and organization for the design team.
  • Collaborate with the Design Director and designers on other product categories to ensure cohesiveness of collection.

Skills & Experience:

  • Exceptional communication & organizational skills
  • Demonstrates high degree of professionalism in communication, attitude, and teamwork with teammates, cross functional partners, and management.
  • Demonstrated strong proficiency in Illustrator and PhotoShop
  • Strong understanding of full cycle of design development process from concept to commercialization
  • 4-8 years of relevant industry experience designing and developing apparel
  • Understanding of brand aesthetic and lifestyle
