General Overview

The Store Manager operates a customer service minded & profitable shop through the successful development of a team that can consistently deliver results. Responsible for all aspects of managing a single store including managing store associates and overseeing store operations to achieve sales, service, customer satisfaction and profitability goals. Works closely with the Store Field Manager to ensure visual merchandising standards are upheld. Responsible for budget; including labor cost and overall expenses. The Store Manager reports to the Store Field Manager.

 

Specific Duties / Responsibilities:
Customer Service

  • Demonstrates extraordinary service, leading by example on the sales floor
  • Ability to clientele and understand customer needs
  • Drives business by reacting to customer needs and wants
  • Always acts in the best interest of the customer
  • Maintains an effective clientele list and wait list with consistent relationship management
  • Demonstrates professional phone presence when calling clients & responds promptly to emails

Development

  • Able to identify talent, develop and retain a well-rounded staff
  • Effectively manage, motivate and monitor a sales team on best practice selling skills
  • Receptive to performance feedback
  • Adapts management style as necessary
  • Ensures a positive work environment through recognition and motivation 
  • Resolves personnel concerns fairly and in a timely fashion
  • Supports new initiatives

Produce Results

  • Able to demonstrate shop ownership
  • Develops and executes strategies to drive business and meet/exceed sales targets, including driving store event outreach within the community
  • Operates business profitably and minimizes potential for loss
  • Effectively implements policy & procedure and manages daily operations with efficiency in mind
  • Manages inventory effectively (restocks, receiving, cycle counts, RTVs, transfers, supply orders)
  • Implements in store markdowns and promotions
  • Able to open and close a store, manage bank deposits, petty cash and deposit log
  • Manages any store maintenance, repairs or improvement needs with Field Manager approval
  • Maintains a visually enticing store that is neat, clean, and organized
  • Learns the skill of gold foil monogramming and is capable of training others in this skill

Communication

  • Engages the store team in a respectful and professional manner, provides feedback as needed
  • Provides product knowledge and vendor information on new arrivals to the store team
  • Responds well to feedback from management and follows directives
  • Keeps the team informed of store goals and overall store performance in morning meetings
  • Works closely with the staff to troubleshoot customer issues
  • Notifies Field Manager of staff concerns and presents proper and timely solutions

Decision Making

  • Seeks creative solutions to store challenges & troubleshoots issues as needed
  • Keeps operational & cost efficiency top of mind
  • Maintains awareness of surrounding retail market
  • Ability to think creatively in business to seek sales opportunities
  • Prioritizes effectively
  • Fairly delegates responsibilities to the sales staff
  • Takes smart risks

Qualifications / Skills:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education and sufficient work experience
  • 2+ years retail management experience; 1+ years in “Luxury Retail” and/or “High End” service.
  • Effective management skills
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • A visual merchandising eye for current trends, color, inspiration and creativity
  • Ability to perform effective selling techniques to achieve sale and repeat business
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel a plus)
  • Physical requirements: lift /carry/move 40 lbs. minimum including fixtures and product
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and physical inventory.
  • Ability to actively supervise the sales floor
  • Ability to open and close a store
