It was a big honor when, a few months back, I met with Every Mother Counts
on a trip to NYC and we spoke about how we could work together. I decided to start quickly so we created this limited-edition tote
with our signature bold French graphics, because I knew we could sell them quickly and we'd give 100% of proceeds to benefit their programs. Founded by Christy Turlington Burns, this non-profit is dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother around the world. Through their programs, they educate and engage new audiences to help support and promote maternal health programs. We're happy to help out in whatever way we can, so while this tote was our first project with them, we'll have more in the near future.
Christiane Lemieux, founder of Dwell Studio
, is on the board of EMC
and she snapped this picture of her Maman Je T'aime
canvas tote on her beach cruiser. I think that about sums up the cuteness of this bag and why you need it. :) I got to chat with my new friend Alex Newbold, the Director of Business Development & Finance at EMC, who was a great champion of the project and amazing supporter of CV. What's your role at EMC? I am the Director of Partnerships & Finance for Every Mother Counts. That means I handle all corporate partnerships that involve products benefitting EMC. I’m also EMCs lone male employee, and Chief Goofball. What attracted you to their mission? My grandmother died of complications from childbirth in France back in 1952. My mom grew up without her real mother, which is what made her such a wonderful mom to my siblings and me. My brother had worked for Every Mother Counts when it first launched and given our family history, I quickly became attracted to the mission. I started as a volunteer and served as TEAM EMC’s captain for the first marathon we ran as an organization. What do you hope to achieve in working with EMC? I hope to continue to grow our community and maintain our partnerships portfolio with a diverse range of companies that are like-minded and have the same passion and commitment as EMC does to end preventable maternal deaths. By offering a wide variety of products, I believe we will be able to engage a larger community and raise funds that go directly to the programs we support. Why was the partnership with CV such a great fit? Because as an organization we are huge fans of the brand. We love everything from Clare's story to her passion for what she does to her willingness to use her platform to support maternal health. What other exciting initiatives do you have in the works? We just came out of a very busy time, as Mother’s Day is a big moment for us to elevate the discussion around maternal health. We just executed our annual fundraising event in New York and for the first time held a similar one in Los Angeles. We will spend the next few months participating in key conferences, planning for fall events and getting some great partnerships, like this one, off the ground. Stay tuned via our social media channels for the latest and greatest from a EMC!
