We've had so much fun getting to know our #CVAmbassador Sophie Monet. A LA native, Sophie has an amazing line of wood-based jewelry that she hand-carves in her Venice studio (which conveniently happens to be just next door to our favorite, Gjusta Bakery). We took a visit to the westside to see Sophie at work in her woodshop, the incredible pieces she's creating, and the creative space that she calls home.

I design and hand-craft everything in my Venice, CA studio using sustainable materials whenever possible including wood, natural stones and metals to create statement pieces of jewelry. 
Describe Your Aesthetic: California cool meets modern bohemian. What do you like most about Clare V.? Clare. V is such an inspiring brand. Clare is influential in her success as an entrepreneur and a major girlboss. Her worldly designs and bold color palettes are beautiful and always make you feel edgy and stylish without being too over the top. Her bags are classic, naturally. 
From design to production, what's your process like? My designs are an extension of my life. I’ve always used style to express myself, so when it comes to designing jewelry, I make pieces that I want to wear. I sculpt more than I sketch, building samples piece by piece, changing and sanding them until I get it just right. I love the whole process, having a theme, mood, and overall story behind a collection makes it so much more fun and imaginative. What makes it most unique? Our woodshop is the most creative and unique place to work. The materials, tools and techniques I’m using are so different from jewelry we see day to day, which is why I’m drawn to it. I use untraditional materials to make something timeless and wearable. 
What do you think would surprise people most about it? That it’s surprisingly lightweight and comfortable. People will come up to you and say in amazement..."is that wood?” It’s something they’ve never seen before. I love it! 
What are your favorite CV bags for Spring/Summer? My Ines is the best travel companion and I love the Petit Kenya in cobalt as my weekend bag. 
How will you be wearing them? I’ll be wearing them on my next trip to France by the sea, to the flea market, with jean shorts and summer dresses!
