It's been a few years since the original launch of the collaboration sunnies we made with fellow L.A.-based designer and brand, Garrett Leight, and we thought it was a time for a 2020 refresh. Fresh for Spring, we've launched Nouvelle, a new frame that boasts the kind of retro vibe beloved by both brands—and a re-issue of our bestselling cat-eye in a few fun new colorways.
Inspired by Clare’s annual summer trip to the south of France, the new collaboration style, Nouvelle, features a retro-styled frame in three classic GLCO hues: Black, Brew, and Caviar Tortoise. They're a feminine silhouette with an edge that syncs with the CV aesthetic. And, the new shape serves as the perfect partner to the original cat eye we created in 2016, that channels the cool-girl Parisian look.
The designers, collaborators, and now, friends. "It has always been a pleasure to work with Garrett, he's become a good friend and we share a similar sensibility as LA brands. Garrett Leight does refined so well, so it made sense for us our original design with a more unisex retro vibe."
The thicker acetate and sharp detailing of the new style are a new direction, and departure from the original silhouette. Clare's been wearing hers in Brew.
"Because Clare is an independent brand owner herself, both of our namesake companies represent who we are as people," Garrett said of working together. "The 5 year partnership has received great reception and we knew we wanted the new style to compliment the first shape we created together. Taking inspiration from French style and icons such as singer, Franciose Hardy, the square cat eye shape felt like the right fit."
