Inspired by Clare's travels to Milan, the Pre-Fall collection embodies the city's vivid color palette and classic mosaic renderings. Clare continues to find inspiration from her hometown of Los Angeles, referencing the hand-painted graphics and signage she sees all over the city. The season is imagined in a vivid new color palette while introducing new veg-tanned and textured leathers.
Inspired by Clare’s summer family travels to Île de Ré, off the coast of France. Spring ‘16 conjures a seaside palette and nautical references. Prints remain a focal point for Spring, including “Le Grand Départ” (a phrase synonymous with the mass exodus of Parisians in summertime), a hand-drawn water print, “Liberez les Sardines” (free the sardines), a hand-lettered “Discothèque” print inspired by a sign in seaside France, and a print of hollyhocks which flourish on the island.
The Fall ‘15 Clare V. collection was inspired by La Nouvelle Vague, 1960’s French New Wave cinema. The season is anchored by exciting modernist elements, which are realized in new patchworking using recycled leather scraps, colorblocking and abstract prints like the splash dots, multi-shapes and hand-drawn lettering, a CV signature.
The Spring ‘15 collection was inspired by Clare’s nostalgia for the 1980’s tennis club she grew up going to with her family. She integrated sporty detailing and athletic appeal into the collection with playful prints shown across the collection. The collection has also expanded to include the new CV Tee range with personal French phrases like “Piscine: Leçons de Natation” and the successful graphic “Oui”.
